Refrigerated shipments

Transportation of perishable and frozen goods is impossible without the use of refrigerated containers. Deliver your cargo quickly and safely with UNI-LAMAN GROUP.

What kind of goods are transported in refrigerated containers?

A reefer container is a container for transporting goods that are sensitive to temperature drops. Inside the container, it is sheathed with heat-insulating material, and climatic control regulates and maintains the temperature. Such containers are of several types:

standard – with an air conditioner for air cooling and temperature maintenance;
two-chamber – different air temperatures can be set in the chambers;
isotherms – do not cool themselves, but work on the principle of a thermos;
heated – the air conditioner heats the air and keeps it warm.

Also, refrigerators are divided into three classes, depending on the temperature regime that can be maintained in the container:

Class A – from 0 ° C to + 12 ° C;
Class B – from -10 ° C to + 12 ° C;
Class C – from -20 ° C to + 12 ° C.

Refrigerated delivery is possible using any type of transport. For land transportation, trucks are used sometimes, equipped with refrigeration units. The main disadvantage here is that, unlike a container, the body cannot be reloaded onto another vehicle or transferred to a warehouse for unloading.

Reefer containers are irreplaceable not only for the transportation of perishable goods. Temperature maintenance is required for such goods:

fresh products (meat, fish, dairy and confectionery products, fruits, vegetables);
deep-frozen products;
plants (some varieties are sensitive not only to low temperature, but also to its changes);
medical goods and cosmetics;
dangerous goods (mainly chemicals);

Not everybody knows, that some types of equipment, for example, measuring instruments, can also fail due to temperature changes.

New refrigerated containers can maintain a given air temperature up to 30 hours, but even this is not enough for long-term transportation, so each container is connected to the ship’s power supply system or, in the case of road transportation, to a diesel generator. If it is planned to reload containers from one vehicle to another, it should be clarified whether the cargo terminal has so-called refrigerated sockets and the ability to connect to the network while the container is waiting for loading at the warehouse.
